Information

Bredasdorp is an agricultural town, known as South Africa's first “dorp”. The rolling hills surrounding the town are home to many sheep, which are farmed for their wool. Wheat is also farmed on a large scale. The natural Flora is the most diverse in the world with a large variety of Fynbos, Proteas and flowering species gracing our area and changing the landscape as seasons progress.

The area lays claim to the De Hoop Nature Reserve which covers 60 000 hectares of endangered fynbos. This reserve is home to South Africa's largest population of Bontebok and also the endangered Mountain Zebra. An ideal spot for game viewing and birdwatching (South Africa's national bird, the Blue Crane, can be seen too).

Whilst here, it would be recommended to take a look through the Shipwreck Museum which is filled with artefacts remaining from the many ships which have sunk along the treacherous coast of Agulhas.
The nearby town of Napier has a variety of good restaurants catering for a variety of tastes. A visit to the picturesque Arniston and Struisbaai is definitely worth adding to the list of winding down activities as well. Wine tasting facilities are available at Strandveld Wines and The Black Oyster Catcher.
